This is going to be the biggest and best Lan yet. Please get in early to secure your spot. 140 spots in total. Comps include COD4 Promod, Far Cry, Trackmania, Quake 3 and Warcraft 3 DOTA.

With some new admins and new gear we are ready to get things back on track. GGF is still located at the amazing fully air con Strathpine Community Hall.

With the inclusion of a few sponsors we will have prizes for competitions and draws. Hence the name GGF (Good Gaming Fun) we are all about gaming and not just about playing the latest and greatest games. We also encourage gamers to play some of the older games for a few laughs. We are looking at roughly 80 gamers for the next Lan.

Also internet will now be provided at the event. It is only a small amount of data and will only be used for steam usage. Please try to make sure your steam up to date before arriving.

------ TrackMania United Forever ------

After the success of the first comp last Lan trackmania will be back for another round.

This game is a fav on everyone’s list. With tense game modes and nail biting climaxes makes this a fun competition that everyone can participate in.

This comp will consist of the "Platform" game mode. Will be 6 or so different tracks and the person with the highest stats at the end will be the overall winner.

------ Call of Duty 4 Promod------

Thanks to PerformanceGaming, they have offered to run the COD4 Promod comp. These guys definately know their COD4 and know how to run an awesome comp. More info on PerformanceGaming can be found @ http://performancegaming.com.au/

I would also like to advise you all that Gamestah will be commentating the COD4 comp with some of their best guys. Parts of the day will be filmed and rounds uploaded to their website. Please note that while the event is being recorded you might be in some of the footage. If you wish to not be in this footage please let me know. Gamestah can be found @ http://www.gamestah.com/

We all know COD 4 is the top of the list when it comes to FPS games. This makes it a must for a FPS comp.

60 Player COD4 Promod Comp. Looking for roughly 10-14 teams.

5 players per team. To register your team please shoot me an email with your team name and player names.

Regulations for the COD4 Promod comp

- Comp will be a double elimination, matches and map selection will be chosen at random at the start of the day.
- If you get knocked out in first round you still have a chance to compete in the double elimination.
- Rounds will be 24 but in knockout mode so matches will end first team to 13 rounds.
- Teams not ready by 11am will automatically forfeit first round and will drop down into the double elimination rounds.
- We plan to have first round all wrapped up by 1pm following a short break for food/drinks

------ Far Cry "The Original" ------

This was also great fun last Lan and will be appearing again for this one.

Bringing back some old school action from the original and best Far Cry. Comp mode is yet to be decided but will surely be one to get your blood pumping

------ Warcraft 3 "DOTA" ------

Unlike the traditional comps this will be run a bit differently. The winner will be determined by who has the most points overall. 1st, 2nd and 3rd placing can come from either the winning or losing teams

------ Quake 3 Dual ------

Quake 3 is still an old fav and still great fun. Game mode will be 1v1 (duel) with best of 3 rounds. Sudden death after that until the finals are reached.

It's time to show the appreciation of those hardcore gaming enthusiastics who arent so good at the gaming comps. The winner will be determined by who has the Highest final score. You will be given 30min to tweak/overclock your pc then 10min to run the standard benchmark. There will also be a special prize on the day for a participant

Most Lans don't mention this gear but I think its good to let Lanners know what the network setup will be before arriving.

Switches **Updated**
• 7x Extreme Networks Summit 400-48t 48 port Layer 3 Gigabit Switches

These switches have a 160 Gigabit per Second Switch Fabric, supporting 101 million
packets per second, giving gamers and leechers the bandwidth they crave!

• 10GbE links will be used for high bandwidth Switches

• 2x High end servers will be running 10GbE Fibre cards.

• Dedicated Games Server consisting of: 2x Quad Core Xeon CPUs | 16GB FBDIMM | 5x 146GB SAS | 3x 80GB SATA | 2x 250GB SATA | 10x Gigabit Network Cards.

• A Star network topology using 1 core switch, edge switches and no nodes. This ensures there is no more than 2 hops from anyone's computer on the network
• Network standards used are 802.3ad and 802.1D,
