Featured games this LAN:
Starcraft 2
Dota 2
Diablo 3
Team Fortress 2
Street Fighter
Super Smash Bros
Rock Paper Scissors
Munchkin
As Jump (aka Blade’s wife) sits in the other room, she hears Blade yelling while playing computer games, nothing unusual, but this time it got her curiosity as he yelled “HAVE SOME COLD FEET! MUHAHAHA!!”. Blade had discovered by random chance the Ancient Apparition character in Dota2. It has an ability to give people cold feet. You could get snap frozen like a McCain baby pea, but if you simply step outside the area of effect, ah-ha, your feet have been thawed. If you think it sounds like a weak skill to have, you should see its ultimate ability. The wiki article advertises that it can “instantly kill units if on low life” - well I guess that's better than slowly killing units if they're already practically dead.
With all that said, we’re pretty excited to announce we’ll be hosting our first Dota2 tournament. Thanks to Fraglabs, we’ll have some awesome gaming laptops again this LAN to host this tournament, as well as the Starcraft2 Blizzard invitational qualifiers for Queensland.
One place you certainly won't be suffering from cold feet is in the depths of hell in Diablo3 (can I get a heeeeelllll yeah!). They'll be as warm as a poorly ventilated xbox 360. If you have any hesitation in leaving your house because you'd like to stay a while and listen to Deckard Cain, we'll be trialing a new beasty internet connection so we can party up and get our fix amongst like-minded D3 addicts.
Let's do this!

FAQ'S
How do I travel to QSAC?
See above.
Is there an ATM nearby?
There is no on-site ATM’s at QSAC. We recommend you bring enough cash for the day!
Where’s my food?
Vending machines with chips/chocolate and drinks are just outside the LAN room.
Unfortunately we cannot supply caterers to our events because there are not enough gamers to justify (need around 500 to make it cost-effective).
There are various take-away shops with short driving distances away from the LAN. Mt Gravatt Garden City is approximately 5 minutes away by car and has three food-courts.
We also do a food run to a fast-food outlet nearby which will be publicised on the day - keep an eye out on the projectors to see what is being offered and when. Generally it will be $10 and include a drink.
Can I bring a packed lunch/dinner?
Officially the venue does not allow us to cater for the event as it conflicts with their catering staff contracts. If you do bring your own food please make sure you tidy up after you’re finished eating!
Can I leave my rubbish on the ground like a useless sod?
Please use the bins! If you do have rubbish or left-overs please use the bins inside the venue. LanSmash is a community run event, and every hour we pay for a cleaner is another prize/switch/etc we cannot use for the next LAN.
Is smoking allowed inside the facility?
All QLD Government facilities now have a permanent smoking ban. Smoking is not allowed inside the QSAC complex. There are areas outside the venue where smoking is permitted.
Does QSAC have security?
Yes, the entire complex is guarded by security guards 24/7. There is also video surveillance systems that record the entire complex as well.
On Saturday nights after the LAN is over we leave our gear there, power everything down, and release the LS hounds on the premises.
How big and how many monitors can I bring into the LAN?
One (1) monitor per person is allowed in the LAN. This counts for CRT’s, LCD’s, and TV’s. Exceptionally large screens (24 inch and above) should contact us us prior to the event to assure you will have enough room.
An exception is the fighting game tournaments where monitors/TV’s are shared.
Can I bring my hub/router/switch to the LAN?
As a general rule, No. The network is setup to accomodate everything you need on the day. Each machine is assigned a port on a switch that you can use.
Can I share files on the PC network?
LanSmash has most of the latest gamepatches and steam backups located on our faithful fileserver, Techdrive. There is also an upload area for you to upload various game mods, updates, etc as well.
There is also a DirectConnect hub which lets you easily share files between machines. Sharing Pornography and R18+ content is strictly prohibited and will result in a permenant ban from future events.
